An EICR is an Electrical Installation Condition Report. It is the formal inspection and test of the fixed wiring in a property, carried out to BS 7671. For rented homes in England it is normally required at least every five years, and when a new tenancy starts if the last report is out of date.
Why this matters. An expired or missing EICR can cause problems if there is a claim after an electrical fire or injury. Insurers can reduce or refuse a claim where the installation was not properly maintained or certified. A current report is the simple way to show you have taken safety seriously.

How it works in practice
1. Chris carries out the EICR at the property.
2. A QR sticker goes on the distribution board.

4. You, a tenant or a future electrician scan the code and see the history without hunting through emails.
5. If you have several rentals, your landlord page lists them all. A button turns red when a report is overdue.
